1986/D Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special Turbo Technics £24995

motodrome are very pleased to offer for sale this really special Capri – a 1986 2.8 Injection Special, fitted from new with the Turbo Technics F26 conversion, turning an already pleasantly rapid car into a very fast example – it’s brilliant to drive.

1986 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special Turbo Technics for sale at motodrome

details

Finished in Rosso Red which I think is a pretty rare colour for an Injection Special, and this is one of the last cars produced before the Brooklands model came out.

The Turbo Technics bonnet vents, tailgate badge, single larger bore exhaust, white dials, and boost gauge are all that gives away it’s potential while at rest.

Otherwise standard Injection Special specification so Limited Slip Diff, 5-speed gearbox, Recaro seats etc, with the exception of uprated front brakes, thermostatic electric fan, electric windows, remote alarmed locking via a Viper security system, and deadlocks on the doors.

Also fitted with a discreet but high powered modern Clarion stereo system hidden in the glovebox, and without silly big speakers. The rear parcel shelf remains uncut.

History

The current odometer reading is 31000 miles, which is really 131000. The last owner bought it via an online classic auction in early 2023, when it was described as ‘SORNED for a couple of years and requiring minimal recommissioning’

As is often the case with online auctions, it turned out it needed rather more than that, not least a complete top end engine rebuild including both cylinder heads etc replaced. Just over 12 months later, he’s racked up over 12000 miles in it including a tour around Spain last summer, and apparently it never missed a beat.

As above, we have the original service book which is full of stamps (no room for any more), the original dealer pack, and a massive sheaf of bills going back to pretty much day 1. I’ve rarely seen such a comprehensive history file on a classic Ford.

Highlights include:

Engine and Turbo rebuilt by Turbo Technics at 63000m in 1992

Unleaded conversion 1999

Quickshift gear selector 2001

Steering rack replaced 2011

Replacement warm up regulator 2016

Silicone hoses fitted 2018

Front springs replaced 2019

Alloy radiator fitted 2019

Alternator replaced 2019

New Bosch battery 2021

The last owner, as well as the engine top end rebuild, had 4 new Toyo tyres fitted and all brake pads uprated to EBC green stuff items in 2023

Overall, it’s a fine, fully sorted  example of a very desirable Capri

Comes with MOT to March 2025,  with no advisories.
