First of all, Simon is most certainly not your average ‘car dealer’. He is a specialist who sells some really special and classic vehicles and really is quite different to so many others.
From my very first contact with Motordome I was quite surprised by the amount of photos of key parts of the vehicle (not just the ‘selective’ parts that one would normally find on websites) and two informative videos. What I would highlight most though is Simon’s honesty. He pointed out flaws in the 70 year old vehicle and spent time going over the vehicle using FaceTime.
I was so impressed with Simon’s approach that I bought the vehicle without seeing it in person and had it delivered (by Mike who is equally friendly and professional). I’ve had the car for a few weeks now and there really is nothing to address, other than a few areas of untidy paint (which Simon had identified).

Buying a 1957 Land Rover could easily be a minefield, there’s many online adverts that sadly disguise the true ( inferior) condition and provenance of said vehicles.
From our first engagement with Motodrome and Simon you appreciate are dealing with an ethical and genuine classic car specialist, his extensive knowledge of classic Land Rovers is also apparent, as was his background knowledge of this particular vehicle.
The transaction was seamless ( no hard sales techniques from Simon, he gives you the time to assess the vehicle in your own time, not that our decision was difficult at all)
Delivery arranged to Lymington ( shout out to Mike Evans as well for his very professional delivery ) prior to the Series I’s journey across the Solent and a new life on The IOW.

An absolute rare find in the world of car dealers, to say he was honest and professional does not do him justice.
I contacted Simon regarding a defender he had for sale and arranged to meet the following day.
Having watched his in depth videos of the car and looked at the numerous pictures, 80+ I think, we decided the car was right for us. Meeting Simon was a joy, so friendly, he welcomed my wife, myself and our puppy, showed us the vehicle and then just left us to look at our leisure, allowing us to take the vehicle for a test drive. His knowledge of the vehicle was exemplary and there was no question he didn’t answer.
To have the confidence to settle on the car straightaway without having to weigh up pros and cons made the whole experience flawless.
It seems unfair to refer to Simon as a car dealer as he is so much more than that.
I would not hesitate to purchase from him again and in fact, looking at his collection of vehicles, I’d like to think that I will do so at some point.
If Simon has a vehicle you want, you will not find a better example of it or a man who will treat you with the respect and honesty you deserve when parting with your hard earned money.

I feel compelled to leave a good review for Simon because it’s not often that you come across such a genuine, helpful and easy going classic car retailer. He’s very realistic about the car’s age, your expectations and I felt that the car I bought was priced very fairly, if not a bit of a bargain.
It was a long drive from where I live to Moto Drome, but was absolutely worth it. Simon provided over 70 photos, two videos and we had a lengthy discussion on the phone about the car before I travelled to buy it, so I absolutely knew what to expect before I got there. He left me to inspect it at my leisure and knew a lot about the history of this particular car, as he’d previously sold it a few years prior and a returning customer had part exchanged it for something else. After my experience with Moto Drome, I can completely understand why Simon has so many regular/returning customers. Simon is a great person to speak to who is very knowledgeable, his video walk arounds are incredibly informative and give a great insight to the vehicle in question. I purchased my defender around 18 months ago from Motodrome and am happy to report that even after a year of good use, the MOT did not show anything. To me this showed the great care Simon went through to choose his stock and hand pick the very best examples. The warranty provided with the sale was of a high standard and should I have needed to use it, I’m sure Simon would have been happy to assist wherever possible.
