1959 Alvis TD21 Series 1 DHC

Just arrived, and awaiting preparation. More details to follow

just arrived and awaiting preparation – please note the pictures are of the car ‘as arrived’ ie a bit dirty after an exhilirating 20- mile drive in the rain (and it didn’t miss a beat) from where it’s lived for the last 50 years…

I love the elegance and coachbuilt style of the Alvis TD-series cars, and in Drop Head Coupe form they’re sheer perfection in my opinion.

This one has a lovely backstory. It’s had just one owner, fairly local to us since, 1976, but sadly health issues mean he can no longer drive. The family were loathe to part with it as it means so much to them – they all remember riding in it as children. But we persuaded them that we would look after it, use it as part of our own collection (which is the intention once it’s had a few little jobs done) and then find a home for it where it’s style and historycontinue to be appreciated.

Odometer reading 59000 miles and comes with a great history file, as you’d expect. We suspect that mileage is correct, but can’t confirm without spending time poring over the paperwork.

It’s probably in the best spec for one of these, in that it’s fitted with

power steering

5-speed gearbox

wire wheels

inertia reel seat belts

automatic Kenlowe fan
