Motodrome offer for sale ‘Arthur’ as this gorgeous 1960 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Series II 88in petrol soft top is known.

SPECIFICATION ETC
Arthur is in lovely condition, and retains his early features including rotating knob screwed-on vent flaps, drivers door lock, early glass lights, sprung steering wheel, deep modesty covers, flat front panel, and short handbrake.
He’s also fitted with: a matching set of Avon tyres, bonnet mounted spare wheel, windowed soft top, 3 elephant hide front seats with matching twin rear bench seats making him a 7 seater at a pinch, oil pressure gauge, and Smiths round heater.
Arthur is an original UK-supplied RHD Series II in the original colour, Bronze Green.
We’re told he was resprayed in 2017. He seems to have spent all his life in Kent and Sussex according to the history, having been supplied by Rice Brothers Ltd of Horsham, and, remarkably, retains his original registration number.
He’s fitted with a sweet-running 151-prefix 2.25 petrol motor, which, whilst we can’t be 100% sure, is period-correct for the year and hence is likely to be the original.
MILEAGE, HISTORY ETC
Odometer reading 37000 miles, which, as the speedo isn’t currently working* we’ll have to say is ‘known incorrect’ although it may be near enough right.
He’s only had 2 owners since 2002.
He comes with a big sheaf of history and bills, including lots of detail of previous owners. Highlights include a Heritage Certificate, details of gearbox reconditioning and new clutch in 2019, and old MOT’s back to 1998
Whilst he’s now MOT exempt, I’m pleased to report Arthur is MOT’d until November 2022, with no advisories. And of course he’s tax, ULEZ, and LEZ exempt as well.
*on agreeing a deal and taking a deposit, Arthur will go into our workshop for the speedo to be fixed, and the handbrake too as it doesn’t currently lock on
At the very bottom of the page, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description
