NOW RESERVED FOR NEW OWNER
motodrome offer this utterly magnificent 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 351 V8 M-code automatic, finished in Radiant Red with black decals and black Mach 1 interior

Chassis no: 0T05M103049, so a genuine Mach 1, not a lookey likey, and in Sportsback/fastback configuration as all the factory ones were
Equipment wise it’s fitted with the optional chin spoiler, power brakes with front discs, power steering, colour coded mirrors with remote drivers mirror adjustment, optional AM/FM stereo, and high-back front seats
Underbonnet, she runs the 351 cu in M-code V8 matched to C4 3-speed automatic transmission. The M code engine is a high-compression, high-performance variation of the 351C, produced for 1970 and1971 only, using the large-port 4V heads with a closed “quench” combustion chamber and large valves, and was reputedly good for just shy of 300hp according to Ford’s marketing blurb at the time
Imported into the UK in 1976, it’s odometer reading is just 59000 miles – whilst we’re not in a position to warrant this, we’ve no information to suggest it’s not correct. The MOT history back to 2006 would suggest it’s covered just over 10000 miles in the last 17 years.
Having been in the UK for 13 years, by 1989 it was pretty much a basket case. The owner at the time embarked on a 10 year rotisserie restoration, including bare-metal body restoration to a better standard than Ford ever managed, with all seams sealed, a repaint in Radiant Red, retrimmed interior, and rebuilt engine and transmission.
All the above is documented in the June 2001 edition of ‘Classic American’ magazine, which comes with the car, and 22 years later it still presents beautifully.
This has been helped by having had just one owner for the past 19 years, who’s kept it in a controlled environment and reputedly never taken it out in the wet.
It’s RFL, MOT and ULEZ exempt.
It is, in my opinion, a very fine, highly collectable Mustang, and both looks and sounds superb. Driving-wise, it’s absolutely fantastic. I’d go as far as to say that it’s the best Mustang I’ve ever owned.
