Motodrome are pleased to offer this delightful left hand drive 1969 VW Type 2 bay window ‘Westfalia’ low-light pop top camper, beautifully finished in red and white.

SPECIFICATION ETC
Great specification including
• Full pop up roof – with roof up it sleeps 3 to 4 in total
• Rock and roll bed/ seat
• buddy seat
This one was imported from the USA to Germany in 2005, before coming to the UK in 2008, and we have stacks of history with it.
It’s only had 3 owners in total since it arrived in the UK – the last since 2013, and has been used for lots of adventures as evinced by the window stickers.
In 2009 the original, worn, engine was replaced with a Laurie Pettitt built turnkey 1600cc twin port motor with full-flow oil fittings, twin weber 34 carburettors, new clutch, and alternator, and I can confirm it drives really smoothly and with a little more pep than standard. It’s covered around 12000 miles since the engine was replaced.
Also fitted with roofrack, twin batteries, moto-lita sports steering wheel, curtains and CSP quickshift kit.
FURTHER DETAIL
It’s possibly more of a day van than a camper in that it isn’t fitted with integrated cooker, sink, or fridge, which has an upside of more room , less weight, and less rattles. Lets face it, how often do these bits actually get used in the real world?
The good news is it comes with various bits of camping equipment including:
- Full awning (see picture)
- Gas cooker with bottle
- Fridge
- Ice box
- Windscreen cover
- Water carrier
- Table
- Hammock for the cab
- Plus more sundry items
Odometer reading 58000 miles, and as above, comes with a large sheaf of bills
I really don’t think you’ll find a nicer example on sale at the moment – it’s gorgeous in every respect, and drives superbly as well. It will stand any inspection in my opinion.
At the very bottom of the page, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description
