SPECIFICATION ETC

This is a genuine Cooper not a replica.

This one, as part of a restoration in the late 1990’s, was fully stripped and the shell restored, before being  prepared to historic rally specification, and in the early 2000’s was successfully campaigned (including a first in class on the London to Istanbul rally in 2000) before being retired to a quieter life thereafter.

It still retains the following rally items:

  • FIA spec Safety Devices full roll cage
  • Cobra competition-spec bucket seats with Willans 4-point harnesses
  • Brantz retro-trip meter
  • All underside lines and pipes re-routed inside the shell
  • Sump guard
  • Auxiliary front lights
  • Laminated windscreen
  • Bonnet straps

It’s further fitted with: twin fuel tanks, Cooper S wheels, Cooper S brakes (without servo),and heated rear window

The engine was rebuilt with a +020 overbore, new pistons, reground crankshaft, and new valves and seats with unleaded fuel capability, oil cooler, LCB exhaust, and sports camshaft

The gearbox was rebuilt with all new bearings and synchro cones.

It runs dry suspension with heavy duty shock absorbers.

HISTORY ETC

We have a large box of history from it’s rebuild in the late 1990’s onwards, including Heritage Certificate, a big sheaf of bills, old MOT’s and lots of details and photos from it’s rallying life.

Please be in no doubt this is no trailer queen – it’s an older restoration that has been used hard subsequently, and so displays a satisfying patina to the panelwork and the interior, with numerous hard-won battle scars.

21 years on it still drives absolutely superbly, with a really strong motor and the usual go-kart handling, following a careful recommissioning by the last owner earlier this year, following long-term dry storage.
