1965 Morris Traveller for sale at motodrome

SPECIFICATION ETC

Over the period 2021-22, the last owner undertook a comprehensive restoration to the condition you see here, including engine rebuild, brake rebuild, and new Newton Commercial interior etc, and now it  looks superb and, just as importantly,  drives beautifully. We have a big file of parts bills for the restoration.

Said last owner acquired it as a non-runner that was laid up due to engine problems since at least 2006, but fortunately had been stored in a dry warehouse. He insists that the shell was completely rust-free and had never had any welding repairs – whilst I think the former was a pretty brave thing to say about a car that’s over 55 years old, looking underneath, it is exceptionally tidy and well-presented, and if there have been any welding repairs done, they surpass factory standard.

It seems to be in standard factory specification with the exception of some modern upgrades as follows:

  • Front inertia reel seat belts
  • Halogen lights
  • Alternator
  • Brake servo
  • Oil pressure and water temperature gauges

MILEAGE ETC

Odometer reading 76000 miles. As mentioned above, we have a comprehensive file of bills for the parts used in the restoration, including a full engine rebuild with new main and big end bearings, new pistons, new gaskets and new valves and guides, brake rebuild, and the new interior.

It’s had a very decent respray in Rover GN12 dark green, and looks lovely.

Whilst it’s now exempt from MOT testing, I’m pleased to report that it has MOT to November 2023, with no advisories.

Travellers make excellent practical classics – they’re simple, so easy to drive, and very versatile, and this one, as a restored example,  certainly turns heads. It’s without doubt up there with the nicest ones we’ve previously sold.

At the very bottom of the page, you’ll find our usual two videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
